Crystalline Trees

Shortly before Christmas we had a snap of very cold weather. The trees turned into beautiful crystalline entities.
Each one displayed a unique structure.

Some of the trees looked like they were especially created just for Christmastime.
And when the sun shone pale through the mist it lit up the hillsides to display a fairyland......of sparkling woods.

Your pictures, as always, are breathtaking! We had some similar-looking trees near us, but the forest of frosted trees was beautiful.
Does it snow often near you? When I lived in Perpignan, my friends all pulled out their scrapbooks of the time it snowed (about 5 years prior to me being there I think). And when we went back a few years ago, my friend was complaining that it had been so cold that winter -- 12 degrees. I told her 12 degrees would be a hot streak near me as there are months where we don't get above 0! I think they thought I was exaggerating the cold/snow we get in the upper Midwest USA!
Hi Mary,
yes it snows here quite a bit. In fact, it snowed just this last weekend and put another blanket up on the mountains. It has since pretty much melted down here for now.
Such beautiful scenery! Speaking from the other side of the fence, it looks nice to have change of seasons/scenery during different times of the year. Here its just hot or wet and sometimes, hot and wet. Temperatures here range from 24C in the morning then soars to 31C+. The thing that gets to you here is the humidity.
I really enjoy your photos of the snowscape. Brings some cool relief.
Thanks again!
Your photos are oh so lovely and the beauty of the frost on the trees, especially a whole forest of them, is breathtaking. Does the frost harm the trees?
Hello Ladyhawk,
Thank you :) As far as I know it doesn't harm the trees - though it's an interesting question. I wonder now too what the overall effect is on them.
Beautiful photos! They bring back memeories from when I was a kid in New Jersey.
